About Nick Twist
Nick Twist was born and raised in Central New Jersey in a middle class world. He has been an active participant in artistic aspirations since his early childhood years. At the age of 9 elementary school teachers began to notice Twist was a little different when it came to his art and also in personality. He was one of the under appreciated class clowns of his era. Most jokes applied more to adult humor than to kids his own age. Twist realized he was much more outside the box than others, mostly living below the radar and following the beat to his own drum.
Time went on and his personality and style glistened to those like minded in artistic expression. Twist continued his endeavors throughout his primary school years to perfect his art and to joke and laugh as much as possible.
Having learned all the rules of art during his K-12 years, Twist attended college for a brief time. Feeling stifled and under appreciated in the field he was working in, he decided to leave school and pursue his own self taught methods as a freelance artist, playing by his own rules.
In 2003 his son was born and Twist made an educated decision to place all aspects of his art career on hold in favor of raising his son and providing more time for him. He started a word of mouth only digital/hand done graphic design company, "Twist Design", in 2004. For a few years he did odd jobs and other related artistic things for close friends and whoever he got recommended to. However, he soon grew tired of working for other's ideas and sought more out of what he could offer to people. His true passion was to develop his style further and to place his images out into the world with deeper meaning than just "pretty pictures". He decided that when his son had reached the right age, he would be able to get back into his full on art career and provide a better life for him and his son. He officially closed all digital graphic design related company proceedings in 2008 and decided to solely pursue hand done graphic art exclusively. There was to be no more doing the bidding of other's ideas and only focusing on his own personal style when commissioned.
Where to go from there?
In 2011 Twist came to a conclusion that his choice to wait for his son to get older was very good. He was able to fine tune his style behind closed doors, without the pressures of the art world breathing down his back for more works. He worked quietly and to himself for years. Then, in 2008, he released his first official series "Revillusion".
Wanting to ensure that this was something special, Twist released only 100 of each of the six pieces in this series, an UNHEARD of small number for such an unknown artist. His feelings on this were that the people that invested in his talent early on would be the ones to reap the most benefits in the future for his works to grow in exponential value.
Twist is still residing in NJ and is working on his second full length series. He has recently finished an "EP" Series called "Kloud Twelve" which consists of only 3 14x17 works, limited to just 500 of each. His second full length series of works is unnamed as of yet and is on a very hush basis for content.
In the same year he got "back in the art game", he also decided to pursue his comedy once more and started writing again. He joined Twitter, in January of 2011. In just a few short months he managed to climb in fame in both art and comedy through the use of Twitter.
Twist has also had starring roles in a few short films. He enjoys the drag and drop style filming and just throwing amazing fun things together. He has starred in two short film classics from Spincycle Productions written and directed by Tony G - "Toxic Fetus" a comedy short where he played the role of a mother, and in 2011 made another short film debut playing a priest in a mock movie trailer "Our Lady Of Swallows" also of Spincycle claim, written and directed by Tony G. He has since been offered roles in further underground films and plans to act in them as well.
